Digital Scanning
We use Itero® digital scanning technology as a modern alternative to unpleasant impressions when making your new crown, bridge, partial denture, orthodontic retainers, or appliance for TMJ/grinding.
Just 3-5 minutes of scanning with a wand like device allows us to complete precise digital mapping of single teeth or the entire mouth.
A digital scan can also be used to show you areas of concern, identify problems with your bite, or create a custom orthodontic plan with Invisalign.
Cone Beam 3-Dimensional
(CBCT 3D) Imaging
Sometimes a tooth may have problems that conventional dental X-rays cannot define. Cone beam 3-dimentional (CBCT 3D) imaging is an ultra-low radiation advanced X-ray that is sometimes used in diagnosing your painful tooth.
Having a CBCT X-ray is comfortable and quick experience that allows us to diagnose problems more efficiently and reliably so that you feel better faster.

Implant Placement
At Carter | Callaway Dental Group, we use 3-dimensional CBCT imaging combined with Itero® digital scanning of the mouth to digitally plan the placement of your dental implant before the procedure is done.
Once the digital planning is complete, a custom surgical guide is created which allows for precise angulation and depth of the implant.
Using this advanced technology, we are able to precisely place your dental implant in a more efficient manner without the discomfort and annoyance of sutures.
Laser Treatment
Use of lasers sounds like science fiction but is common for certain dental conditions. Dental soft-tissue lasers use high energy focused at the tip of a pen-like device to efficiently cut through gum tissue without bleeding.
Conditions that are commonly treated with soft tissue lasers include:
- Frenectomy (removal of tight bands of gum tissue that limit tongue movement or may cause recession where the gum and tooth meet).
- Removal of excess gum tissue causing infection when overlying partially erupted wisdom teeth (pericoronitis).
- Controlling bleeding and removal of gum tissue overlying an area where a filling needs to be placed.
- Contouring gum margins in highly visible areas to optimize symmetry and overall aesthetics.

Intraoral Photography
Taking a detailed digital photo of your tooth or gums is as easy as point and click with a slim, wand-like camera. We routinely use cutting-edge digital cameras to record a photo that you can see instantly.
A photo is essential to help you understand what is going on with your tooth and is often helpful to provide documentation for insurance purposes.
In-Office
Tooth Whitening
Tooth whitening in the dental office is more effective than other methods due to the strength of peroxide derivatives being used. During this procedure, a light-cured protective layer of acrylic is carefully painted on the gums where they meet the teeth. The whitening agent is then applied to visible areas of the teeth and activated with a special LED light.
The procedure is carefully monitored, and the duration of the treatment can easily be modified if any symptoms of tooth sensitivity develop.
